heading wildlife hospital get involved

Keeping our centre fully operational is no easy task! We have a constant need for assistance on many levels - from hands-on help with our animals to the supply of food, payment of veterinary bills and a host of other items. There are several ways in which you personally might assist us:

What does it mean to be a Volunteer?

We think that it is most important that you ENJOY your time with us and that your stay becomes a working holiday in every way! For this reason, we believe that you should not feel that your time each day is restricted in any way.

You will learn most of what you need to know through experiencing wildlife through practical, hands-on work under the supervision of highly trained and knowledeable Wildlife Professionals.

The activities you will take part in are:

Anti Poaching:
Patrolling our farm’s perimiter looking for snares etc.

Wildlife Centre:
> General running of the centre
> Feeding baby animals
> Cleaning cages and bomas
> Preparing food for the animals
> Treating and caring for animals
> Rehabilitation (walking animals in the wild etc.)
> Wound dressing
> Weighing animals
> Updating animal data records
> Ensuring food is stocked and in supply

Relaxation Time:
> Relaxing around a bonfire
> Enjoying drinks and snacks together

A typical Volunteer Day:
To give you an idea of what to expect, your typical day would comprise:

> Waking up
> Feeding animals at the hospital, giving milk to any baby animals, cleaning, ensuring game pellets are available, updating animal records and ensuring that food supplies are in stock.
> Lunch/down time
> Getting involved with current game farm activities
> Feeding time at the hospital
> Supper
> Relaxation time

Where will you stay?
You will be accommodated at the Wildlife Centre Volunteer Village.
